Elizabeth Park, Hartford, CT

June is peak time for the rose garden at Elizabeth Park. There is also a beautiful perennial garden with a gazebo, perfect for weddings throughout the season.  Amy and Nick were married in the park on a gorgeous sunny day. They added to their garden wedding theme by presenting roses to their Moms during the ceremony.  Lots of photo ops at the park, including a stone bridge over a duck pond, and benches among the roses.  The photos in the slide show below were taken in mid-July.   (Click on thumbnail pics to enlarge photos.)

Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial Park, Waterford, CT:

Highly recommended.  Harkness Memorial Park has it all-  gorgeous gardens, a beautiful mansion, and wonderful ocean views.  Have your ceremony in the garden pergola or by the shore, with your reception in the mansion and adjoining tent.  The slideshow photos below were taken in July, at Lisa and Jonathan's fabulous wedding. They provided fans for each of their guests- a lovely touch for a hot summer day!

Wickham Park, Manchester, CT:

At Wickham Park there are five themed gardens suitable for weddings: English, Cabin, Lotus, Oriental, Italian Shrine.  Leah and Thomas were married in the English Garden on the Great Lawn.  The adjoining Knot Garden was the perfect spot for their receiving line after the ceremony.  The best gardens at the park for weddings are probably the English Garden (above), and the Cabin Garden.  The English Garden has no shelter in case of rain, though, so have a back-up plan, even if it's umbrellas for your bridal party that coordinate with your wedding colors!  The English Garden has a pretty gazebo, a lilac path in spring, and a rose path in June.  The Cabin Garden has a wonderful rustic cabin with a fireplace, a tent for receptions/shelter, beautiful gardens, and a great view.  Whichever garden you pick, guests can tour any garden after the ceremony, and you will have limitless photo ops!

The Italian Center, Stamford, CT:

Most gardens have peak bloom times.  For the above garden wedding in May, azaleas and other flowering spring bushes surrounding the site were beautiful,  but not much else was in bloom.  Stephanie and Brian added potted hydrangeas, hydrangeas tied to the aisle chairs,  and yellow rose petals scattered on the aisle runner by their flower girl, for an instant and lovely garden effect.
