We can
perform a veil and lasso wedding
ceremony. The veil and lasso (lazo) or cord ceremony is
an Hispanic or Filipino tradition, and occurs after the exchange
of vows. The bride and groom are symbolically clothed as
one and tied together representing their union and everlasting
love. The lasso can be a decorative white silk cord,
rosary beads, or made of white ribbon,
flowers, fabric, silver, crystal, pearls, or other beautiful
materials.
The lasso of love ceremony is
done by the officiant , family members, or members of the
wedding party.
As the couple kneels, a cord, in the shape of a
figure eight (symbolizing infinity and everlasting fidelity) is placed over
the couple's shoulders. Then a veil is draped over the
groom's shoulders and the bride's shoulders or head. The couple remains kneeling while
the minister prays over them.
After the prayer, the
veil and the cord/lasso is removed. The lasso is
given to the bride as a symbol to keep of their everlasting love. |
